NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Jean Shepard, “the grand lady of the Grand Ole Opry” who had a long recording career as an influential female in country music, died Sunday, according to an Opry spokeswoman.

Country Singer Jean Shepard loved Chattanooga. She told the late Ray Hobbs with WDOD Radio, she’d move here if it wasn’t for the Grand Ole Opry. The Oklahoma native visited with the country DJ a lot.
