Excel Won't Open File when double-clicking. Will open using Excel, File-Open. I installed Microsoft Office Profession 2010 on a Windows 7 machine. I can open Word documents normally by double clicking on them on the desktop. For Excel files, double clicking brings up the spinning circle with no action.

New Update causing files to not Open Some of our employees updated our Microsoft apps and some hadn't yet. The ones that have are having problems opening files in Word and in Excel. We are finding that those who hadn't updated are still opening the files just fine.
I created a context menu entry that applies to all file types called "Open FIleSystem Location. This will work with your shortcut files as well as jumping from a location in a virtual folder such as This PC > Documents to This PC > Windows (C:) > Users > <UserFolder> Documents.
